Mobile Development Professionals Needed to Judge 2015 MobileWebAward Competition

WA_Logo_2006The Web Marketing Association’s MobileWebAwards competition is currently accepting entries and is looking for qualified judges to help adjudicate this year’s award program. This award program recognizes the individual and team achievements of Web professionals all over the world who create and maintain the best mobile Websites and the best mobile applications. The deadline for entry is September 30, 2015.

“Since 1997, the WebAwards have helped define the standards for website development. The MobileWebAwards are doing the same for responsive websites, mobile-specific websites and apps designed for mobile devices,” said William Rice, president of the Web Marketing Association. “Smartphones and tablet computer use continues to explode and companies are racing to be allow users to connect and interact with them using mobile devices. We are looking for individuals who have direct experience developing for the expanding mobile platform. Our judges must have an in-depth understanding of the current state-of-the-art in mobile development, an eye for a well-designed interface and the objectivity to score entries according to a predefined set of criteria”.

How To Nominate a Judge

To nominate yourself or someone within your organization, please complete the Judge’s Nomination Form. Mobile development professionals selected as judges will be contacted during the first week of October.

Judging for the MobileWebAwards will take place in Mid-October, 2015, and winners will be notified by e-mail one week prior to the general announcement of winners in December, 2015. Judges will consist of a select group of Internet advertising professionals with an in-depth understanding of the current state-of-the-art in mobile website design and mobile application development. Past competition judges have included top executives from leading corporations, institutions and media organizations such as Ogilvy Interactive, R/GA , Saatchi & Saatchi, Blattner Brunner, Sun Microsystems, National Cable & Telecom Association, Refinery, Euro RSCG, A&E Television Networks , New York Post Interactive, The Cincinnati Enquirer, Ernst & Young , J. Walter Thompson, Xerox, Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and Aristotle.

Entries will be accepted in both the Mobile Website and the Mobile Application formats. Entries will be judged on seven criteria:

  • Creativity
  • Impact
  • Design
  • Content
  • Interactivity
  • Ease of Use
  • Use of the medium

It recognizes the individual and team achievements of Web professionals all over the world who create and maintain outstanding mobile Websites and mobile applications. “As Internet traffic from mobile devices is set to overtake desktop devices, it is becoming more critical than ever to have an effective online presence tailored to mobile devices.” said William Rice, president of the Web Marketing Association. “The goal of the MobileWebAwards is to both recognize the people and organizations responsible for developing some of the most effective mobile Web sites and mobile apps on the Internet. Whether a responsive website, mobile-specific website or a mobile app, our expert judges will select the best offerings in 96 industries.”

The MobileWebAwards were judged on seven criteria seen as requirements for a success mobile website or mobile app. They include Creativity, Impact, Design, Content, Interactivity, Ease of use and Use of the medium. Each mobile website or mobile app entry is judged against other entries of the same format in its industry category and then against an overall standard of excellence.

 

This year’s top awards will include:

  • A “Best of Industry” MobileWebAward will be given in each of the 96 industry categories, including financial services, medical, small business, travel, advertising, transportation and government.
  • The competition’s highest honor, the 2015 MobileWebAward “Best of Show,” will be given to the one best mobile website and one best mobile app that the judges believe represents the pinnacle of outstanding achievement in Web development.
  • The Web Marketing Association will also recognize the interactive agency winning the most awards in the competition with the “Top Interactive Agency” WebAward.
  • Each organization that wins 5 or more MobileWebAwards will be awarded an Outstanding Mobile Interactive Developer trophy.

 

Last year’s top awards winners were:

Noble Studios won Best of Show Mobile Website for Queens University of Charlotte, which also was recognized as Best University Mobile Website.

Spark won Best of Show Mobile Application for Martin Guitar Tuner, which also was awarded Best Music Mobile Application

Klick Health was named Top Interactive Agency for the 2014 MobileWebAwards competition. They received 9 awards, including: Best Publishing Mobile Website, Best Game Site Mobile Application, Best Pharmaceuticals Mobile Application, Best Biotechnology Mobile Website, Best Technology Mobile Website, Best Employment Mobile Website, Best Intranet Mobile Website, Best Marketing Mobile Website and Best Blog Mobile Website.

Each organization that wins 5 or more MobileWebAwards will be awarded an Outstanding Mobile Interactive Developer trophy. Two firms were named an Outstanding Mobile Interactive Developer last year. They are RED Interactive Agency (6 awards) and Risdall Public Relations (5 awards).

 

Judging for the 2015 MobileWebAwards will take place in October and winners are expected to be announced in late December. Judges will consist of a select group of Internet professionals who have direct experience designing and managing mobile Websites,–including members of the media, interactive creative directors, site designers, content providers and webmasters – with an in-depth understanding of the current state-of-the-art in Web site development and technology. Award Programs Update

WMAlogo_fbThe 19th annual international WebAward Competition for Website Development’s judging is now finishing up and the Winners will be announced in early September.

The 4th annual MobileWebAwards will begin accepting entries next week and the deadline for entry will be September 30th.

Our 14th annual Internet Advertising Competition will be accepting entries for the 2016 program starting in November, 2015 with a January 2016 deadline.

Web Marketing Association Names Best Mobile Websites and Best Mobile Apps of 2014

Queens turned to Noble Studios to capture the feeling of being at the University virtually. Noble designed and developed an interactive campus tour with customizable components so prospective students could envision their college experience. They can select their area(s) of study and interest. Students are then given an interactive grid of results based on their answers.

Spark won Best of Show Mobile Application for Martin Guitar Tuner, which also was awarded Best Music Mobile Application. In addition to the guitar tuner, there is a design-your-own custom guitar component of the app, where the user can pick different body styles, wood and decorations and then share the image on social media.

Award Update

WMAlogo_fbMobileWebAwards – The MobileWebAward’s Call for Entries has ended and the judging is now underway. We expect the winners to be announced in early December. Good luck to all who entered!

WebAwards – The winners of the 18th annual WebAwards should be receiving their physical awards very soon if they have not done so already. Awards that were ordered will begin production as soon as the initial awards are shipped.

Internet Advertising Competition – the 13th annual IAC Award website is currently being updated to an entirely new design. The Call for Entries will begin the first week of November.

The Web Marketing Association’s Call For Entries for its 3rd annual international MobileWebAward competition has been extended until Friday, October 17, 2014 at Midnight EDT.  

This will allow all nominators to complete the editing of existing entries and anyone to submit new entries into this award program.   This will be the only extension granted. 
This award program recognizes the individual and team achievements of Web professionals all over the world who create and maintain the best mobile Websites and the best mobile applications.
