Nog Pong is an online, interactive game that combines the game of beer pong, an intelligent ball-tossing robot and a Web site chock-full of 2.0 goodies to create the Internet’s most festive holiday party. Saatchi LA teamed up with the mech-masters of Deeplocal to engineer a robot that could be controlled by anyone in the world to toss balls at cups of eggnog. Saatchi LA provided the in-house party and a rotating cast of noggers.
After only four days, nogpong.com saw more than 80,000 video streams from 66 countries, consuming more than a terabyte of data. Players queued up to control the robot, with a wait of over 18 hours at its peak. The site received over 2,000 Facebook Likes and generated 20,000,000 media impressions on Twitter. Over 8,000 shots were taken with approximately 2,000 hitting their mark. For every cup sunk, Saatchi LA donated a little more to three nonprofit charities: The Amanda Foundation, Free Arts for Abused Children and New Directions. Never before has technology been used to have so much fun in the name of good.
