Best Investment Online Video

Investec has sponsored the annual Investec International rugby matches – where England takes on the southern hemisphere teams - for ten years as it is an excellent opportunity for corporate events and also ties in with Investec’s international presence. Investec has aligned itself with Rugby as they have similar proposition: to be successful at rugby you have to work as a team, have team ethics and to win you need to continuously adapt and change tact to stay ahead of the competition. This year Investec briefed Gravity to develop a video to build awareness of the brand and its sponsorship of the Internationals with both new and existing clients. Investec clients are high net worth individuals; pre-dominantly male aged 25-late 60’s. The video was to be utilised across online (banners, clients website) and outdoor media (transvisions) as well as the big screens on match day. The method deployed was determined by the budget of £25,000 and the tight timescale of four weeks. Although Investec sponsors the Internationals, it doesn’t give them access to film the England team as they are contracted to different sponsors, and the budget and time didn’t allows for a full rugby video shoot. Therefore, the only footage available to us was photos taken at the 2009 event. Due to the players other sponsors we were not allowed to show the players’ true identities, which provided the challenge of how do we create the atmosphere and buzz of a giant tournament using only flat images? It forced us to look at innovative ways to make this happen.
