Best Arts Website

As a world-renowned painter and photographer, Victor Vázquez was in need of an elegant online showcase of his twenty year plus career and current work. Many artists' websites do not provide an adequate usability environment for showing artwork, within an accessible user interface for audiences that are not web savvy. Traditionally, artists' websites do not provide a macro view of the work so that the user can better assess what pieces he/she wants to investigate further, and instead, tend to force the user to click through many pages in order to find what they may be interested in. When looking at a piece, websites tend to show small images that do not honor the level of detail that a true art fan wants to see in order to study the work.

This website was structured so that visitors could easily browse through the artist's work series (each of them being a story in their own), and view his pieces with the highest level of detail in a larger format than most artists' websites. As many visitors may not know his series, thumbnails are presented for an overall glimpse of the work's "taste". Upon clicking for a detailed view, the visitor can keep browsing through the rest of the series' pieces without any page refreshing, thus allowing for a "slideshow" environment that does not interrupt the narrative flow.

As Vázquez's work tends to be complex, and constantly changing in aesthetics and formats, the overall look and feel was kept simple and minimal so that the work itself would not be overshadowed.
