The Pacific, a 10-part television event, delivers an unflinching, realistic portrait of the experiences of real WWII marines, exploring the physical, mental and emotional impact of each battle and the true human cost of war.
The primary target was adults 25+ with a male skew. With a historical battle zone as vast as the Pacific, the official website and its components needed to deeply supplement the narrative with plenty of innovative features to keep viewers engaged. In short, the website had to be the ultimate companion guide to the miniseries.
The site beautifully represents the cinematic experience of The Pacific. Behind The Scenes features explore the creative vision behind the miniseries, including accounts from the series creators and a collection of storyboards, sketches, and other assets. Exclusive movies extended the viewing experience using first-hand accounts of the veterans.
Users contributed their own stories and photos of friends and family members to be showcased on the website.
Interactive Battle Maps with animated graphics, embedded video and voice-over narration by Tom Hanks offered an innovative and captivating geographic overview of featured battles.
