PODS is a well known and highly efficient portable moving and storage company who recently had their website redesigned with the help of Bridgeline. PODS main concern was increasing online bookings. Bridgeline sought to creatively improve the sites functionality. Bridgeline realized each segment had unique needs and the PODS’ web site must be able to meet the needs of each and every customer in order to increase online bookings. The four groups Bridgeline identified and segmented were those who were using PODS for moving needs, storage needs, business needs and unexpected events. The site was then redesigned to reach all segments and attract their business. The PODS website is set up so the customers in those predetermined segments can easily navigate into an area of the site that most accurately suits their needs. The landing page is set up so customers can immediately click on one of the four customer segment buttons located prominently on the home page and are redirected to that area of the site. They are then able to view a series of pages specifically designed to meet their needs, including relevant content and quote mechanisms. Bridgeline realized 70% of PODS’ traffic was via search engines. The site has thus been optimized so that anyone coming to the site via search engine will be directed into an appropriate and relevant area of the site that matches the keywords of their search. Bridgeline also made it possible for any outgoing emails PODS sends contain content that is relevant to the recipient’s needs. Because of Bridgeline’s efforts online bookings have gone from 10% to 24% of PODS overall orders.
