The European Environment Agency (EEA) publishes a formal state and outlook report every five years to inform governmental policy makers on the status of the environment. As public interest in the environment has grown, the EEA saw the opportunity to shape the content of the report to make it more accessible to a wider audience. N1 Creative was asked to develop a promotional product for the web, to promote the updated report to this wider group. The final product played upon the main message of the report, that everything in the environment is interlinked. The nature of an online viral mimics this interaction, so an easily sharable one-minute animation was created to reinforce this. A simple narrative was developed building on the idea of cause and effect, using imagery reflecting the themes within the report, e.g. transport, agriculture. Having whetted the viewers appetite there is a clear call to action to view the full report.
