Best B2b Online Newsletter Campaign

"That's it - we can no longer put it off! The rationalizations just don't hold up any longer!" That was the collective exclamation from our marketing department last summer. For years we had been producing quarterly newsletters and mailing them out to clients and prospects. Because of the field managed nature of some of our accounts it was difficult to acquire email addresses for all those we wanted to send newsletters to. So we kept plodding along, printing hard copy newsletters and mailing them out - never knowing if one person or 100 people had read them. Then one day we finally reached the tipping point. The cost for producing and printing the newsletter kept increasing. We had recently completed a new branding initiative and we had the capabilities in house to create our own e-newsletter. We wanted it to be clean, easy to read, but with enough graphics to capture attention and make it interesting. It needed to maintain much of its personality even if viewed with images suppressed. In order for our title to still be present we compromised on the header and used live text as opposed to a single header image. After days of coding sans external CSS, we were finally ready to launch. Our first mailing was sent to 451 clients and prospects. We had an open rate of 28% and a read rate of 24%. Through our social media initiatives we generated 47 additional clicks by tweeting the link on Twitter.
