Debuting in December 2009, the iVisitLauderdale free iPhone application delivers both planning and exploratory tools to users in a convenient and growing form of media. Research shows that mobile users are looking for local information, such as restaurants, hotels, events and deals, but many travel apps do not deliver the depth of content that users desire.
The iVisitLauderdale app was designed to bring this information and more to users in an easy-to-use and branded fashion. The app has five tabs that serve the users various needs and wants, from checking the weather forecast to exploring the area via branded videos and photos. The map allows users to narrow their property searches by area when they’re planning and is also location-aware so that users who are in-market can find nearby attractions. Users can also save any item on the app to their Favorites and share those with family and friends, adding to the interactivity of the app.
Greater Fort Lauderdale’s casual luxury is symbolized with a flip flop, which is used throughout the app to reinforce the branding in unobtrusive and clever ways. One such case is as the Back button.
In its first month, the iVisitLauderdale iPhone app has proven very popular with an international audience. It has been downloaded more than 2,200 times by users including Americans, Canadian, Germans, Japanese and Australians.
