The audience for the Roth IRA Conversion Decision Tool is for both advisers and the general investing public. The goal is to help quantify a new opportunity for those saving for retirement by providing a simple calculator that provides clear and personalized answers. This tool is very much needed. There is significant media attention devoted to Roth IRA conversions. On January 1, 2010, nearly $1.4 trillion of retirement assets become eligible to be converted to Roth IRAs. For the first time, higher income investors were able to convert to a Roth IRA, which was previously limited to taxpayers with an Adjusted Gross Income of less than $100,000. Consequently, many in the media recommend that investors convert to a Roth IRA, however there are many questions surrounding the new Roth IRA conversion rules. We believe that it’s essential for investors to consult with their financial and tax advisers and gain an understanding of Roth IRA conversion basics. To this end, we created an intuitive calculator that helps investors determine if a Roth IRA conversion may be right for them. In addition, the input can be changed easily so different “what if” scenarios can be examined. Short-term results demonstrate that our Roth IRA Conversion Decision Tool responds to a critical need: •2,500 advisers have used this tool in only three months •It is one of the most used calculators on our public web site and one of the most popular resources in our wide array of educational resources
