The EMC widget is designed to provide useful, free information for users in the field of Enterprise Content Management (ECM). The target audience is decision-makers and influencers in the B2B IT industry, most specifically those involved in ECM. This includes CIOs and other high-level IT positions at enterprises worldwide. Additionally, the widget targets professionals interested in information security (specifically areas such as email archiving and compliance).
EMC’s primary objective of this campaign is establishing positive brand awareness. By being the first in the rich media/widget space, EMC is looking to establish themselves as the leader in B2B IT solutions, who is staying on top of the times. Additionally, EMC is looking to show that it cares about its audience and providing them with the rich content that they want, by creating interactive media that is useful, dynamic and everlasting.
EMC’s secondary objective of the campaign is lead generation. On the last two tabs of the widget, users are required to fill out a form to gain access to the offers (podcasts, whitepapers etc…) in the widget.
The widget is currently being promoted via an online media buy on relevant sites within the ECM space, and the widget can be easily added to the social platform of the user’s choice (including Facebook, Yahoo! Gadgets, iGoogle, Vista Gadget, Wordpress, Blogger, etc…) so they can stay up to date in the field of ECM through the dynamic content in the widget. This “Grab It” functionality also allows for viral promotion.
