Covidien was looking to reset the expectations of a broad audience in respiratory care, from healthcare professionals to its internal audience of Covidien marketers and sellers. The goal was to extend the corporate brand to the respiratory care audience, which trusted its products and asked for them by name, but was either unfamiliar with the Covidien name or dubious that a new name made any difference in how and when its products were brought to market.
