ASSIGNMENT
Agency.com was tasked with creating a unique campaign that would run on washingtonpost.com, mainly in the political section. The objective was to drive consumer trial of Ask3D, an upgraded search interface. Considering that the 2008 Presidential campaign was in full swing, and considering the highly-targeted placement of the banner, we decided to create a banner that would entice users to search for their favorite candidates.
SOLUTION
The banner presents the candidates as prizefighters who “box” for the top spot. Each day, a list of the six most popular candidates is generated, based on actual data from the previous day’s searches on Ask.com. From those top six, two candidates are randomly chosen to “fight” each time the ad is served. The ad ends with links to the top six candidates, allowing users to search Ask for their favorites.
