Targeted towards journalists attending the Digital Life Convention, this email was designed to build media buzz around the launch of the Gateway® One computer, a sleek all-in-one desktop with a completely different look and feel than any of Gateway’s other products. In order to build intrigue, we hinted at its beauty without revealing the product itself, hiding it behind the curtain on the wall of an art gallery. The look and feel of this email was purposefully different than any email Gateway has sent out before, mirroring the departure that the Gateway® One reflects from previous Gateway products.
The Gateway One campaign received mentions in influential technology blogs such as Engadget (“…all signs are pointing towards a new all-in-one PC with decent aesthetics.”) and Gadgetress, which commented, “This is the sort of invite we tech reporters expect from Apple, possibly even HP. But Gateway? It’s a home-town computer company known for its cow-motif boxes and mostly ordinary lineup of PCs. This campaign not only exceeded client expectations but also revived a struggling brand for Gateway.
