The objective of the Wakey’z site was to establish Sleep Number as a credible and sensible solution for better sleep. Connect with optimizers, people actively seeking out life-enhancing products, and let them know the current trend towards using sleep and wake aids is unhealthy, and that a Sleep Number bed is the better solution. Sleeping pill prescriptions have annually reached the millions. New categories of caffeinated foods, beverages, and pills are being introduced to the marketplace at an alarming rate. And people are buying them in droves. By creating our own online sleep/wake aid shop, we were able to interrupt the conversation, which in essence, created a new conversation: Stop all this unhealthy craziness, and realize that better sleep starts with a better bed. While we wanted the target to engage in the fun of the site, we needed to make sure Sleep Number presented itself as the ultimate solution to poor sleep. Whenever you clicked to buy a product, you would be given a sleep number message and an opportunity to click through to a Sleep Number landing page for more product information. If you did not click to buy, the message would automatically appear after several seconds. Or, once you clicked on any combination of three buttons, the message would appear.
