Fatheads are life-sized poster cut-outs of sports and entertainment figures that can stick to your wall. Interactive agency i33 communications targeted NFL fans (who purchased more product than any other Fathead segment). Further, we needed to distinguish the giant-sized Fatheads from the myriad of other sports memorabilia and merchandise competing for fans’ attention and dollars during the key holiday buying season. In “Bobblehead,” we used fluid animation and humor to show a tiny bobblehead doll (representing yesterday’s collectibles) being pushed off the shelf by a Fathead. The ad included what we termed “bone-crunching” animation, causing the banner to shake as the Fathead logo “slammed” into the ad. The ads delivered nearly twice the click-through rates of the previous agency’s creative, and we quadrupled revenues delivered by Fathead’s previous agency.
