The launch of the University of Guam’s 70th anniversary year presented an opportunity to focus on the university’s founding mission — To Enlighten, To Discover, To Serve — in a fresh way. Used frequently in speeches and in print and marketing materials, a mission statement can lose its impact and meaning. This video was meant to breathe life back into UOG’s mission statement by pairing an invigorating soundtrack with clips of people in action carrying out UOG’s mission and 70th anniversary theme of “Transforming Lives, Advancing Communities.”
The goal of the video was twofold: 1) to reconnect and remotivate university stakeholders — students, faculty, staff, and administrators — toward the university’s mission and 2) introduce UOG to an international audience in the hopes of fostering new partnerships and connections.
The University of Guam Mission Video celebrates the university’s most defining features in a short, but impactful, span of two minutes. The video has provided an energetic opening for both internal events and international meetings and has reached 35,000 people on social media, well-beyond our student population of 3,000 and employee population of 1,000. The video will undoubtedly have many more applications throughout the coming anniversary year.
