The State of Wisconsin’s Traffic Violation and Registration Program (TVRP) system serves hundreds of municipalities and courts. Users rely on the system to hold or suspend Wisconsin vehicle registrations until forfeitures (such as parking tickets) are paid. Many of the 90,000 transactions each year were processed on paper. Processing could take days to be manually entered by Department of Transportation (DOT) staff.
The new TVRP system is built with responsive design and puts user needs first.
Before the new TVRP system, Account Setup could take weeks of back-and-forth emails, and offered only manual bank transfers as a payment option. Now, Account Setup:
1. Collects and validates required information
2. Offers DOT staff a seamless review workflow, including in-system handling of rejection/revision/approval
3. Online payment setup for both CC and ACH
4. Automatic daily transactions, including reports for both users and DOT staff
Users can now add or release transactions in three ways:
1. A step-by-step process for single entry
2. In bulk (up to 50), using a simple-format file upload, for low-tech mid-volume customers
3. Via a modern Application Program Interface (API), for large customers who can continue to leverage existing automation
4. These are all processed in real-time, greatly improving the speed that a suspension can be added or removed
Also, a sophisticated matching algorithm has drastically reduced the need for manual intervention. Unmatched registrations flow to a custom dashboard for DOT staff, allowing them to easily locate the correct registration. This ensures that submitted transactions are always successful.
