We don’t normally think of light bulbs as high-tech. Think again: C by GE is a suite of smart light bulbs that make homes more intelligent and connected than ever. WIth a simple voice command, C by GE owners can do things like control the brightness of their house or run customized preset lighting programs -- the perfect light level for movie night is just a voice command away. But as with any cutting-edge product, consumers have a lot of questions and will want to try it out before buying. C by GE turned to true[X] because they have something in common: voice activation. true[X]’s interactive ad products empower users to actually control their ad experience through speech. They built a live demo of C by GE capabilities directly in an ad unit that ran alongside premium, long-form digital video content on desktop computers. Users were given a series of commands that would impact the brightness of the unit -- mirroring the experience of using actual C by GE bulbs. Spending a minimum of 30 seconds interacting with the C by GE ad allowed users to experience a reduced commercial load. This innovative, voice-powered showcase of GE’s latest product line resulted in an average of 57 seconds time spent with the ad (well over the 30-second minimum) and a fantastic 9.1% CTR. Smart light bulbs might be new to most people, but the metrics prove that learning more about them can convince consumers that they’re a smart solution.
