Best Government Mobile Application

York Region launched its mobile application as an additional way for those interacting with York Region to access Regional services, news, current events and employment opportunities. The application provides a number of unique features for mobile users such as the ability to report roads-related problems from locations within York Region using an image, and geolocation information to allow the Region to efficiently respond to the issue. Furthermore, the application enables users to use their phone notifications to receive immediate notice from the Region in times of crisis, or interact with the Region on a day-to-day basis for news, events and job alerts. The mobile application’s development aligned with York Region’s Strategic Plan to provide responsive and efficient public service by (1) providing customers with an additional way to connect with Regional services and information and (2) providing customers with a positive, consistent experience across all of the Region’s customer-facing touchpoints.
