Veolia is well known by the general audience as a brand, but only a few people truly know what the company actually does. It benefits from a dual personality: under its institutional look, it is also a creative and modern brand. There is a kind of a sweet "madness" in everything it does.
To show all of Veolia's sides, we created a website telling the brand's story through an immersive user experience. The user can learn in a playful and quirky way Veolia's solutions (ship dismantling, wastewater recycling, methanation, etc.). Every animation allows the user to take control of a solution in order to understand and learn how it works and its benefits.
"Resourcing the world is kind of magic!"
The idea was to showcase the complexity and the engineering of all of Veolia's expertise while using a playful language and creative codes, that could be understood by everyone. The general audience doesn't have to know EVERYTHING but it needs to know that Veolia puts all its energy to revitalise the world. And to do so, if what we need is some olive stones and wheat straw, so be it!
With this project, our challenge was to find the right balance between respecting a complex solution process and making it understandable and accessible for all users. Our main difficulty was to make those solutions understandable only with animations. To do so we created a quirky universe for Veolia, following on from the "Resourcing the World" campaign created by Rude, Veolia's illustrator since 2015.
