In 2015, CBG Building Company (CBG) transformed its corporate website’s entire aesthetic on a limited budget of $5,000 and under strict guidelines to retain the vast majority of existing content and structure. The goal of the remodel, conducted with buy-in from corporate leadership, was to transform the outdated website into a sleek and intuitive platform that accurately reflects CBG’s extensive and high-quality work product.
The redesign focused on three initiatives: updating the site to reflect CBG’s new brand; cutting excess and streamlining design; and highlighting the company’s impressive project photography. To achieve this, the marketing team removed extraneous graphic elements like drop shadows and brown columns. Instead, they selected contemporary typefaces and stripped the outdated color in favor of a white background that allows imagery to shine amid discerning pops of the new, bright cyan corporate accent color. By utilizing high-quality imagery CBG has commissioned over the years, a large scrolling hero area and striking galleries contribute to the stunning, on-trend aesthetic.
The site’s primary audiences include potential clients — namely real estate developers/owners — business partners, and recruits. With the redesign, the site is now used as a portfolio piece for acquiring new business. It highlights both CBG’s breadth and depth across many verticals, including an integrated Twitter presence showcasing recent news, and its expertise as a premier builder. Most notably, the Capabilities and Portfolio Pages are structured to show volume while demonstrating how closely CBG works with each of its clients to achieve their goal of a superior finished product.
