In 2014, Getty Images and Ayzenberg teamed up on an integrated campaign around “Year in Focus”—Getty Images’ annual spotlight on the year’s most moving photos. By taking a distinctly digital and social approach to their annual print book, Getty Images sought to expand beyond their target audience of photo editors and art directors, generating broader public awareness of their position as the primary source for high-quality, inspiring photography. Inspired by a deep commitment to moving the world with images, Getty Images and Ayzenberg kicked off a campaign aimed at giving viewers a way to truly experience photography.
The campaign asked the question: “What was the most moving image of 2014?” and centered on a visually engaging digital hub Ayzenberg created at http://yearinfocus.gettyimages.com. There, users could browse through some of the year’s most captivating photography and vote on those images that moved them.
Ayzenberg created a series of interactive banners to raise awareness and drive traffic, brought the images to life with a series of breathtaking videos, and leveraged social media to put the focus on the photography itself, with cinemagraphs, short-form videos, and albums that were fresh and shareable. The campaign wrapped up in January, votes were tallied, and the top 10 images were announced. With visitors hailing from 165 countries and over 290,000 votes counted, the campaign was a resounding success—proof that the best way to bring great photography to life is to simply get out of the way and let the photos speak for themselves.
