Detroit is in crisis mode. It has the highest violent crime rate and the lowest employment rate of any major city. It’s gone from a bustling population of nearly 2 million people in 1950, to just 700,000 today.
Detroit has made significant strides post-recession. Though the city is working through bankruptcy, there is a renewed spirit of entrepreneurialism and community. However, even with new growth the problem of blight persists. The Detroit Blight Authority was created to help remove blight and restore neighborhoods to their true potential.
Our Challenge: to create an online experience that effectively engaged and communicated The Blight Authority’s mission in a way that would resonate with the citizens of Detroit and its surrounding metropolitan area.
The idea: create an engaging web experience that conveys how a city block can be transformed.
