From July 21 to 25, 2014 Klick Health, the world’s largest independent digital health agency, debuted a brand new recruiting tactic: Experiential Recruiting, with our “Get a Taste of Life at Klick” campaign. With an expected growth rate of 50% in 2014, we need to rapidly increase our workforce, but attracting the approximately 100 high-quality, talented individuals who fit with Klick’s people-centric culture is not a small task.
As a digital-first agency, we relied on multiple digital elements to drive traffic to our campaign, including promoted tweets, digital elevator ads in competitors’ buildings, and digital advertising in marketing trade magazines (including marketingmag.ca and strategy online). Wildpostings also drove to the campaign website and Twitter page.
Our Klick-branded ice cream truck, cart and concierge-themed street teams shared some of Klick’s popular ofice perks, while a digital screen on the side of the ice cream truck displayed videos of life at Klick. All told, we stopped at over 30 locations and handed out about 3,000 ice cream sandwiches and drumsticks, 675 healthy lunches, and over 1,000 cups of Starbucks coffee. In exchange, we collected hundreds of business cards and employee profiles.
We also invited Toronto-based web and app developers and agency types to use Klick’s own Concierge by tweeting their requests to @KlickConcierge, which created substantial social media buzz. Employees from competing agencies took to the social sphere to request the help of @KlickConcierge. In response, our Concierge helped make their lives easier in a number of ways, including:
- Delivering free work-late dinners;
- Picking up and delivering kitty litter;
- Holding an impromptu birthday party;
- Picking up and delivering cold/flu medicine and tissues; and
- Sourcing and delivering crazy socks to a groom about to get married.
The campaign sparked 220% growth in resume submissions, 500% more website traffic and three times Klick’s average LinkedIn page views.
