In collaboration with the Baltimore County Office of Tourism and Promotion, the Baltimore County Office of Information Technology designed and developed the Enjoy Baltimore County tourism website. The site is a practical tool to build partnerships with the business community, foster tourism activity and encourage local spending at Baltimore County businesses.
Enjoy Baltimore County has two distinct audiences: The businesses that publish and manage listings, and the public who search those listings.
Business owners create accounts and generate their own listings for restaurants, hotels, attractions, activities and events in Baltimore County. Businesses own their content and therefore are able to add, remove or update listings at any time. The Baltimore County Office of Tourism and Promotion reviews all requests through a content management system before publishing them to the live site.
For the public, navigation is category-based, allowing users to browse for food, lodging, activities and events. Users can also search listings and filter results based on features or amenities (such as style of cuisine or type of event) and add their favorite listings to a downloadable itinerary. Entries are geotagged on an integrated Google map, with suggestions for nearby and complementary attractions automatically populated. And for users on the go, the site is responsive and designed with mobile in mind.
