North Star Windows & Doors is Ontario’s largest vinyl window manufacturer and has been in business for nearly 30 years.
Strategy
One major goals was to penetrate the Toronto market. However, traditional media (ie. radio) had proven too expensive in the past.
We saw that a sweepstakes campaign could be effective at reaching a larger audience of home buyers (who will buy windows one day) and allow North Star to gain brand traction in Toronto. This thinking had its role because if we only focused on consumers who were ready to buy (which we further do through Adwords), we’d miss out on investing in the market to build the brand long-term in Toronto.
The goals for this campaign were:
Brand Awareness – 30,000 million impressions in target markets
Acquire leads – 2,000 leads

We built a highly engaging microsite and brand for the campaign called, “Windows for Life: $10,000 Sweepstakes.” It encouraged people to submit their contact information (opt-in for future solicitation) for a chance to win new windows for their home. We supported the campaign with a radio and digital media buy and had all user terms approved by a lawyer for gaming law compliance.
Results
Impressions – 86.9 million (190% over target)
New Leads – 4,661 (133% over target)
Website Traffic – Up by 443%.
With nearly 5,000 leads acquired by this mid-market sized brand, they now have a large database that is fueling their sales department and email marketing program.
