98Rock is Baltimore’s premiere FM rock station and as such, has the benefit of a captive audience being driven to their website by exciting, dynamic on-air programming and a multitude of promotional events for listeners in the area. However, their last website revision was in 2005 and they were in desperate need of a refresh. The station needed a more dynamic, mobile-compatible website that could be easily updated by on air talent and support staff. Disk jockeys needed blogs, the promotion department needed to highlight photos, videos, and events, and the sports department needed a way to announce headline events. The station hired Alexander + Tom to develop a new site using dynamic, modular design elements, and cutting-edge programming techniques. A+T designed a new, interactive website for 98Rock that allows them to update content on the fly, allows site visitors to quickly and easily find the information they seek, and provides instant, real-time updates of social media efforts, NFL information, and most importantly a live video stream. The modular design saves time in developing and maintaining a website. A basic template was developed for each page so that various components could be swapped or moved easily within the page layouts. In the first three months after launching the new site, traffic increased by 30% - a tremendous improvement.
