Manulife wanted to significantly update their Group Retirement Savings Plan Members website. To achieve this they needed a fresh modern look, with better usability and compelling features, one that would set them above those of their competitors. In order to accomplish this, BlueRush developed the “Ride to 65” game. Ride to 65 is an educational game that helps users learn about the impact normal, everyday financial decisions can ultimately have on retirement goals. The plan member is able to customize the play by selecting an avatar. They make decisions at the start of the game that enable them to model their financial life. Along the way they will be asked to make other decision and experience unplanned life events. As the game is played, the player can monitor their success through traditional indicators as well as a “happiness” meter. The game also provides advice and tips during the journey, allowing the plan member to gain experience and financial decision making skills in a non-traditional way. This compelling and fun education game was developed in flash which could be integrated within the newly redesigned site.
