The National Park Service hired Alexander & Tom to build a mobile application to feature over 400 locations in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed to help increase the education and attendance of these natural and historical locations. The Chesapeake Explorer enables users in the Chesapeake Bay region to find biking and hiking trails, campgrounds, fishing spots and more at State and National Parks in the area. The app provides detailed location information including fees, hours, facilities, and the history behind the areas. It also includes Interactive maps, and the GPS-powered location services allow users to find activities in their area. The app, which was created for both iOS and Android devices, allows users to also select their favorite parks and create collections of the parks they have visited. The app even allows users to create custom day trips or choose from an assortment of pre-set tours, and get turn by turn directions.
