Break Your Bias is an online experience that encourages people to dismantle their internal biases by challenging their mental models. We do this through virtual learning experiences that address and shatter their preconceived notions. The goal is for people to identify their own biases and take a first step to address them.
Influenced by a year of intense ongoing racial tensions in Minneapolis and the country, this site is intended as an onramp for engaged users to dive deeper into resources from Minnesota’s YMCA of the North’s UnitedHealth Group Equity Innovation Center of Excellence, a leading organization developing with the community solutions to disrupt long-standing social inequities and advance system changes through educational experiences.
Following a series of provocative questions, participants are prompted to dive deeper into videos and actions that can be taken regardless of time – 1-minute, 5-minutes, or 10-minutes - including tips for having courageous conversations. Also find a thorough resource list of bias-breaking books, podcasts, and films; and thought-provoking videos of some of the 12 diverse and brave Minnesotans who put themselves into this project.
