THE TARGET
Consumers who consistently shop at Ahold grocery brands.
THE CHALLENGE
There’s a lot of retail messaging around Thanksgiving, with numerous brands trying to profit on this popular holiday. Our ask was to find a new way to present the offers Ahold would typically send their audience in a new and exciting way.
THE OBJECTIVE
When it comes to the holidays, we’re looking forward to delicious meals—but for less. Our intended goal was to make sure consumers were aware that Ahold brands had multiple coupons available to them during this time, and that in addition to that, they had creative and inventive recipes and ideas for how to cook them.
THE SOLUTION
What you see is what you get—which is one beautifully designed email that lets the photography take lead, with quick copy and a more playful subject line and preheader. We used animation to entice and enhance the free pie offer, and playful fun copy to entice the rest of the Ahold consumers.
RESULTS
This email performed phenomenally! The subject line and preheader was inquisitive and playful to encourage open rates, garnering a 26.32% open-rate over the typical 18.72% benchmark. The click-to-open rate was the most impressive, with the benchmark being 7.97% and Ahold getting a 28.06% click-to-open. The offers were seamless and logically integrated with the overall theme and recipes, to encourage customers to buy and be engaged.
